Our Special Projects division specialises in yachts, both motor and sail, from 50m upwards. It is headed up by Malcolm Lane, who has been looking after some of the most prestigious yachts on the seas, please feel free to contact us at the Southampton office, for impartial advice or assistance on any projects you have. Below are some of our clients.
Our remit was to help keep this beautiful classic motor yacht looking very much like her early days, whilst complying with all the latest regulations for her class and flag registration. Fitted with the very first Furuno combination ECDIS/Radar system on a non-commercial vessel, Shemara operates a full 'paperless bridge'. Charts are updated over the V-Sat automatically, with no requirement to carry paper charts. We continue to support Shemara technically both remotely and onboard.
Built in 1984 by Astilleros de Mallorca as 'Jessica', we were involved in a small part when she was rigged by Spencer Rigging in Cowes where we offered our services in connecting some of the systems once the rigs were stepped. In the early 1990’s we became fully involved with all the navigation and communications equipment, still supporting the yacht now with the most current work being involved in the fitting of her new carbon fibre masts.
Having completed the bridge systems on a 43mtr motor yacht for the same clients in 2003, we were invited to tender for the clients new 63mtr being built at Oceanco in The Netherlands in 2005. We were involved in the design and installation of the bridge navigation, communications and steering control systems. This project saw us spend five months on site with a final sea trial that completed with us disembarking with the Rotterdam pilots.
